Sterling Silver Olives Leaves…

This set is made from two different olive leaves which I collected in western Sicily. The process of taking real plant material and alchemizing it into metal is long and complicated. Through many years of experimenting I am able to create meaningful jewelry that hold the actual shape, size, markings and energetic presence of the real plant.

The olive tree is an ancestral plant to me and those of the Mediterranean. My Sicilian ancestors tended the same trees that these leaves came from in Sicily just off the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. They had a deep connected and a mutually beneficial relationship to their land and the plants they tended as peasant farmers.

Through my unique jewelry making process, from collecting the materials to the final step of polishing, the piece becomes a prayer and a message for its future keeper.
